Project Buniyaad: Building Healthy Futures

Systemic Challenges: A Call For Change

An under nourished start leads to a disadvantaged future

An under-nourished start:

35.5% of children under five in India are stunted. It has one of the highest child wasting rate in the world at 18.7%.

High rates of anaemia:

57.0% of women aged 15–49 and 59.1% of adolescent girls (15–19 years) are anaemic.

Overall impact:

These factors lead to long-term developmental complications underscoring the urgent need for intervention.

Nurturing Health and Empowerment

Eliminating malnutrition in children by empwering women and girls with tools and knowledge

Project Buniyaad provides child monitoring services in partnership with Heights and Mind Foundation (HMF) to children below 3, personalized guidance to mothers and pregnant women and workshops on nutrition and better lactating practices along with fun cooking classes and space for toddlers to play. In 2023, in collaboration with the Heights and Mind Foundation.

We also conduct workshops on menstrual health and distribute eco-friendly renewable sanitary pads in partnership with Baala.

By integrating community engagement, education, and technology, Project Buniyaad is building a foundation for healthier families and sustainable development.

Transforming Lives With Project Buniyaad

Comprehensive Surveys

An in-depth survey of 70 women revealed a 53.6% literacy rate—showing progress but highlighting the need for inclusive education—and only 12.9% contribute to family income, underscoring their resilience amid financial constraints.

Nutrition & Health Workshops

At the new MindUp Women’s Center, workshops educated mothers on balanced diets during pregnancy, the importance of micronutrients, and practical cooking demonstrations.

Leveraging Technology

In 2024, a digital health monitoring app was introduced to track children’s growth every 100 days. This tool enabled timely malnutrition interventions, improving outcomes for 69 pregnant women and 51 infants.

Menstrual Health workshops

Regular workshops on menstrual health empowers adolescent girls and young women with knowledge about their bodies and how to take care of themselves.

Eye Care Camps

In partnership with Accura Eye Care Hospital, the annual eye exam camp in 2024 reached 103 community members. Seventy-seven individuals were identified with poor eyesight, and 23 received glasses.
